What people are saying…

My wife and I worked with Kayla before, during, and after the birth of our first child and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. In advance of the birth, Kayla shared some useful resources with us and held two sessions with us to learn about techniques to help position the baby for a better delivery and manage labor discomfort. As we got closer to delivery, Kayla was very responsive to questions we had. She is knowledgeable about both medical procedures and natural approaches (not anti-medicine, but also pointing out how medical providers might pressure us into unnecessary decisions). During the labor itself, Kayla was invaluable. Early labor lasted over a day; all throughout labor, Kayla was a calm and informed presence. She was expert at using multiple methods that helped with pain, including massage, distraction, water, heat and cold. Once we were at the hospital, she helped us understand where in the "process" we were and what to expect next. We felt like we had a trusted guide to get us through labor and delivery, which was so welcome for two new parents.

I spent a lot of time searching for a doula and I found a great fit with Kayla! She is warm and reassuring; although we didn’t start working together until later in my pregnancy, I still felt as comfortable with her at delivery as if I’d known her for a long time! It was important to me as a black woman to find a doula who is knowledgeable about not only birth work but the problems that black women encounter in the healthcare system. Kayla came prepared with information and encouragement that helped empower me to advocate for myself during my perinatal visits. Compared to my first delivery, this time I felt much more informed and in control. I’m really happy with the outcome of my labor experience and Kayla’s presence and support played a huge part!

We seriously don't know what we would have done without Kayla. When we were talking about getting a Doula everyone would ask us what a Doula does and we didn't really know. Now we know! They are life savers and Kayla is the BEST ONE. During Early Labor Kayla met us and guided me through everything that was going on. I would have been totally lost, confused and in pain without her. After our baby came home we had a tough night and Kayla came over the next day. She gave us perfect advice and our nights were back on track. We wish we could have Kayla over all the time! We love her! Don't know how to recommend her more!

I went to a Gynecologist four months ago because of some worries I was having with menstruation. My appointment felt rushed and I felt misinformed and confused about what was going on with my body. I was prescribed birth control without being told what it does or how it would affect me. I left the appointment feeling hopeless and scared about the future and my fertility. I reached out to Kayla because I felt uncertain about my options and diagnosis. She was very kind and comforting! She answered all of my questions and presented me with options, reliable information and resources. I feel supported by Kayla and she completely changed my outlook on my diagnosis and my future fertility. Prior to this, I had never spoken to a doula but it was definitely the right decision and moving forward I will not let my Gyno make decisions for me without consulting my doula, Kayla.

During prenatal visits, Kayla provided answers to questions promptly. She provided helpful resources through email and text. Also, during the birth Kayla was attentive to our needs.

I consider myself someone who is knowledgeable about reproductive health and my body, but I struggle to navigate decisions about things like birth control and aspects of fertility when I go to my gynecologist. Kayla has given me the perspective I didn't know I needed. She offered her expert thoughts and advice without judgment. Kayla asked tactful questions that helped me to clarify what I need and what I am willing to accept. I felt truly heard and supported. After speaking with Kayla, I realize that getting the right prescription and a decent experience at the doctor's office isn't enough. I need to feel part of the decision-making and cared for as a whole person. This lesson is invaluable and I have Kayla to thank.

Kayla helped me and our family as a post partum doula and I can't recommend her enough! She is highly knowledgeable on all post partum healing matters for mothers and shared such great information with me while I started my breastfeeding journey. Beyond kind and compassionate, she is also a wonderful chef and made us delicious post partum meals which were so clutch when you have zero time to cook with a newborn in the house. We just wish we could use her 24/7!

Kayla is heaven sent! She helped me find the perfect clinic for my procedure. She informed me on everything that I would need to do and what would happen during my procedure. Kayla made this process very calming for me and assured me that everything would be okay every step of the way. I am truly grateful for her.

Kayla was referred to me by a friend. She gave me exactly what I needed in a labor/deliver and post partum support. I was so happy that I had Kayla at my side to support me through labor/deliver and post partum. The education she gave prior to labor and deliver gave me confidence to ask the right questions and make the right choices for me and my baby. In labor she was able to encourage, position, and reassure me when I didn't know what was going on. It was also helpful for my husband to have her there to be able to help me in the best way possible when he was unsure of what to do. Thank you Kayla!

Simply put, Kayla made my life easier.  Amidst the craziness of the pandemic, home schooling, changing schedules, and simply day-to-day life, she brought a calm to our household.  She saw what needed to be done and moved through the day making it happen.  I would hire her again in a heartbeat!

Initially, I was having trouble with the beginning stages of planning out my pregnancy. Kayla came into our lives from our very first meeting and helped me organize my planning, reassured me that I was on the right path and answered all of our questions; at that moment our pregnancy began to take a turn for the better. Although I was entering my second trimester, we had not yet found a midwife and I was beginning to grow more and more anxious. Kayla's warm spirit and confidence wiped my jitters away completely and we began the work. She provided us with so many resources to help us on our search for a midwife and eventually we were able to make the perfect choice. Kayla met with us virtually every two weeks in the beginning and weekly as the time grew closer to my due date. In between meetings we texted constantly- my questions never went unanswered, and I was always given more than enough information to research and educate myself on things I may have been unsure of. Not only is Kayla extremely knowledgeable, but she is also very poised in her delivery, making all of our meetings feel like a steppingstone towards the finished line. Her level of professionalism is unmatched, however, after this experience I feel like I’ve gained a lifelong friend because of the way she cared for my family during this process, even from states away. On the day that I went into labor, I facetimed with Kayla first, I wanted to let her know that all the work we'd done together 1000% was paying off because I felt "ready" or as ready as possible when pushing out a small person. She answered every single call no matter the time during my 24+ hour labor. Kayla didn't just provide a service for us during this time, she helped me tremendously through a life changing experience. I am forever grateful for Kayla and would recommend her to anyone interested in having a natural and/or home birth.

Kayla was a warm, loving, and reliable presence. We always felt at ease when she was with our infant and grateful for the amazing support she provided to our family. In addition to being so compassionate, she was always quick to provide suggestions and recommendations when we were unsure of the right next steps for the care of our little one. Highly recommend Kayla and would definitely work with her again!

Kayla was dependable, caring and trustworthy. She helped with night-time support for our 5 month old baby that would not sleep through the night. We felt comfortable our baby would be safe under her care.

I was referred to Kayla by a Doula I had contacted for the birth of my first child that did not have any availability. There were other Doulas recommended to me, but when I had viewed Kayla's profile I was immediately drawn to her warm and kind energy. Upon meeting Kayla, we were quickly certain that we made the right choice. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, she always made my husband Joe and I feel comfortable with any questions and concerns we had being first time parents. Due to medical complications my delivery was very stressful and hard to handle, but Kayla was with me every step of the way. She was such a calm and reassuring presence to have in such an uncertain, scary time. I cannot imagine having gone through my birth without Kayla by my side. Although everything did not go as I planned, I can say that because of Kayla I felt 100% more prepared then I would have been. I cannot recommend Kayla enough to any person expecting a child that needs support and guidance. and can say that if I have any future birth experiences I hope Kayla can be a part of them.
